Once the children were provided decent meals and didn't need to eat trash any more, we were convinced that the most important goal was schooling. Actually, all they were asking for was "One meal a day, and the opportunity to go to school!" Then we realized that school is not enough. They needed true professional skills and a quality professional training - only thus would they be able to turn their back to misery. Today, more than 4000 children from PSE go to school and 1500 youngsters follow vocational training. Yet, besides school and professional training there are many things these children never had experienced, which are crucial for the success of our educational projects: hygiene, nutrition, medical and psychological care, protection, support to their families... |
